I'm enjoying a leisurely Saturday morning in my new house. It would be perfect, but that my feet, fingers and nose are icy cold. Yes, I'm inside! There are some houses in this world, two of which I have now lived in, that are depressingly poorly insulated. This is one. The other was the house on 41st St. in SD...cold and dark is how I remember that one. At least there is good light in here...though it is probably only 54 in here, I think is what the thing shows...probably warmer outside! But, it's cloudy and gloomy out there, which makes it less appealing to open up the doors and windows to let the 'sun' in. And obviously to turn the heat on is SO inefficient that it's not worth it for a few hours of coziness. ...I'll be baking later today, so that should help :) I'm making the Deep Dark Secrets Chocolate Cheesecake from the old food blog - Savour This. My friend made it recently for another friends wedding... to die for. So, I'm making it for our decadent dessert Easter celebration. mmmmm.
I've been busy since I got back to Bass Lake. There are lots of weddings now. Last week we worked on 5! And there's a day in May when we have 8!! It's been really fun though getting to do more design work with the arrangements and bouquets etc. I'm really enjoying it actually. And there is something amazingly stabilizing about having some routine - get up, do some exercise, drink tea, have breakfast, go to work, read/homework, home, dinner, relax ....and so on. Weekends I have to explore. Nights free to hang out with friends, or rest in my own bedroom. It's given me such peace. So much so that I've decided not to decide anything...but to just let my life be as it is for now...and I'm here and I'm working at the flower shop and I'm in school. Don't know what is on the horizon, but that's okay. I'm enjoying my new living situation too. My housemates are a lot of fun and have made me feel very welcome.
Last Sunday I enjoyed the beautiful weather by hiking up at Lewis Creek - a beautiful creek bed about 5 miles from where I live - gorgeous spots for picnicking and swimming when it gets warmer and exploring. Then later I went with G to go climbing...he wanted to check out a new spot - so I came ready to try it out, but they ended up being a lot harder than he anticipated and I got a good work out belaying for him. Another beautiful spot in a granite-slab filled creek bed. Lots of poison oak to look out for though! And then later...I went canoeing!! It was SO beautiful. K and I went out around some of the little coves and enjoying the still peaceful waters (before all the big boats arrive for summer). I LOVED getting out there. And have been once more since - though it was much chillier as this week brought remnants of winter cold, wind and rain (and snow in the mountains!).
I've been enjoying the pleasures of good music on good old pandora. I like that it plays a particular genre base on what you want/feel and then I get to learn about new bands and stuff.
I'm in the market for a swim suit for upcoming summer adventures and exercise. I'd love to not buy something at some big box store. But, I'm a little hesitant to buy something off of Etsy (a great place for unique gifts and handmade things) since you can't return it...though with measurements they'll custom make it for you... Any other suggestions ? :)
