It is one of the perks of being here in the off-season. The sun was rising just as I was enjoying the first sights of this winter wonderland.
While this made for a spectacular display of sparkling light, it might that within the hour it was snowing again...not from the bright blue sky but from the branches and eves.
This made for a messy driveway however...which became an icy driveway as night fell. It took us 3 tries and a few fishtails to get up it in the truck! But, success proved my better than average driving skills ;) thanks to Mike and Kelli hopping in the bed to weigh down the back.
I walked two miles to meet my boss for a ride this morning. It was a beautiful day and I got a glimpse of the lake not long after sunrise, still adorned in winter magic.

Here's my two cents about snow on the SA driveway. You HAVE to shovel it when it's still powder. If you let the sun set on snow in the driveway, it'll freeze into a sheet of bulletproof ice that will be there for weeks. 30 minutes of hard labor with the shovel will save days of heartache and misery later.
Plus, the left side of the driveway (the log side) is less steep and much easier to get up and down.
beautiful pictures, Leigh.
so I seem to remember one of your previous blogs mentioning that you were reading The Road? am I crazy?
anyway- I checked it out from the library the other day and read it straight through without stopping. which, as you know, I love doing.
