At long last!

I got a job!!
Check it out...

The woman I will be working for is super eager to have me join her at work. I start tomorrow. She is going to teach me arranging and design, so I'm not just cleaning and delivering! One of my first tasks will be to help her build an arch out of manzanita branches, drill holes in it and put silk forsythia flowers in the holes to fill out the arch in yellow. The picture I saw looked really pretty.
Forsythia:

And she's willing to take me even though I'll be leaving in 2 weeks for a month. There are lots of weddings starting up in April and May. Plus, she lives here in Bass Lake, which means I might be able to get a ride in and out of town with her some days when I don't have a ride otherwise! I'm so grateful and relieved...it came at just the right time.

Also, I'm applying for food stamps and possibly the county medical services. It is a lengthy application, which I should have known from my days as a social worker. There is a lot of paper work to keep track of! My employment history for the last 5 years, for example... Any guesses how many jobs I've had over the last 5 years? (counting duplicates each time)
I'm so curious to meet with the eligibility worker and see what it's like to be in the system...and find out what I can buy with food stamps. My best friend, Kelly, reminded me that those benefits are there for those that need them...so, why not?!

Sweet Pickens! She used to be my florist when we lived in Bass Lake (she was also our semi-neighbor, but I don't think she knew that).

Whenever I would leave for an extended period of time--I'd leave a card with her and she'd deliver it (with Gerber Daises, of course) a week or two later.

She made me look good like such a good husband!

whoa, 5 years of employment history!? i don't remember that... oregon's food stamp program must be a little different. I think you can buy anything that is food, no vitamins or herbal stuff though usually. unless it's in the bulk section and then sometimes you can sneak it in. in oregon though, there are no restrictions on what kinds of food you can buy. wic won't let you buy organic. but food stamps you can get whatever you want. except alcohol.

your new job sounds awesome!
