Chains Required

As fun and beautiful as this is, I have to admit I am a little sad to not be able to go anywhere and visit some other friends here at the moment, seeing as we don't have chains for our dear Surely (the volvo) and due to the conditions and lack of road care here in Portland, chains are required out there. Everything has more or less been shut down the entire week, like since last Sunday. School has been out all week for the kiddos, Kelly was off work all week etc. I'm a little concerned about my flight. Although the weather is supposed to be slightly warmer Tuesday...like 33 instead of 29, Tuesday is the ONLY day in the next 10 days in Denver that they are expecting snow! And with DIA's track record I'm pretty much counting on delays. Though, secretly I love being a part of the holiday travel chaos.

So, anyway, in between episodes of Scrubs and trying to figure out what book to read after finishing The River Why, I'm enjoying my beautiful surroundings near my friend's apartment. Here's some pictures to prove it...

Notice the nest!! There are robins that seem to like this pretty little tree.

The snow was layered with a sheet of ice. Below it inches of powdery snow. I don't think it would even stick together to make a snowman though. But it was nice and crunchy to walk in!

This is near where I'm staying. I mean, I can't really see what the big deal is.
PS. that is supposed to be the main road around here

oh sad are you leaving tuesday?! I hope I get to see you!

I'm not loving this weather... my parents and grandma are in town but snowed in at my brother and sisters house, so I haven't seen them since Friday.

Where in town are you staying?
