Sick in love with NYC

I've concluded that I'm officially getting old. I lost a few hours of sleep this weekend as I started my vacation sleeping on benches in airports and riding on buses and trains and eating less than satisfying and nutritious foods and I'm completely and literally sick and exhausted as a result. Out of my routine of eating habits, not sleeping enough or in my own bed and getting sick, I mean these are signs of old age if you ask me!! I'm disgusted. What am I supposed to do with myself if I can no longer travel so flexibly and still remain healthy and strong?! This is what I live for! Thankfully, New York City has been bright with sun shining down with its healing rays this week and I've been soaking it in. But, at the same time, the cool Brooklyn accommodations I've got with my friend David are literally 2 feet from the subway stop outside his windows... incessant rumbling, squealing breaks and flashing lights all night aren't quite what I'd call a lullaby.
So, like I said, I'm in New York City this week. My friend has another friend visiting this week, so she and I have been roaming around the city gawking and marveling at the sites and heights. We took the free Statten Island Ferry ride today. Lovely view of Manhatten and old Lady Liberty. We spent a long time wandering around the construction and commemoration sites at 'ground zero' - quite moving and impressive. Apparently 'everyone says this', but New Yorkers are really really helpful and friendly! And David's friends here at school are lovely. We were at one of his friend's quaint Parisian-like apartments tonight where we had wonderfully fresh and delicious meal of fish, tomatoes, mozarella, toast and balsamic vinegar.
Mmmmm.... here's to another night of attempted sleep and health recovery...

'Get-well-soon' to you, dear friend. I wonder if you've had a chewy huge New york bagel, yet?
or a cheese steak? or a new york key lime pie?(these suggestions are from Leslie) or a new york taxi ride?
I thought New Yorkers were kinda distant and all wore black?
