Guess Who?

Recent additions to Life:
Stereotype Guess Who?!

It's the newest, funnest, most controversial version out there. All you do to spice up the old game of Guess Who? is alter the question criteria from objective to subjective in nature. For example: instead of asking "Does your person have blonde hair?", you ask "Is your person a high school drop out?". And instead of asking "Does your person have make-up on?" You ask, "Is your person a musician?", or "Did your person have an affair?". etc. etc. You may think this creates impossible odds at winning... Not true... though both teams failed the first round; second round we BOTH guessed each other's person!! It was thrilling (maybe a little disturbing) how accurate our stereotypes were that we could pin point which out of 30 persons it was. It is also fun to do with a partner who knows someone that you don't - so you make guesses or stereotypes and your partner in the know confirms or denies them. It would work great with those old high school year books. :)

And, don't forget about Speed Scrabble, Oolong tea and Northern Exposure (early 90s TV show).

I've never been much of a game player, but lately it's been pretty fun. I imagine it has something to do with the fact that I spend the VAST majority of my days/nights studying, sleeping or thinking as I stare at the people in the pool - alone and quiet - social interaction has become such a treat. My lifeguarding days are near over and I can hardly wait. Maybe by then I will have become a regular at the scrabble table, who knows.

I spent this last weekend with my housemate (and friend) enjoying an Ultimate Comfort Marathon in the company of angels (her sister and brotherinlaw). We lazed around, watched a movie in the afternoon, marveled at the simplicity of making beer bread (and ate it), slept, drank fresh chamomile tea, got inspired to roast our own coffee, discussed the similarities between midwifery and hospice care, watched Northern Exposure in the afternoon... you get the picture. There's nothing better for these gray drizzly days.

sounds awesome, but that is what makes a good story teller, eh? My BF came home Monday night and it has been really wonderful to have her here. We had a long walk and a blessed catch up and cry session and now she goes away for another 4 days but then she'll be back. I'm so happy to have her back home. We made amazing carrot and pumpkin soup with sourdough and white cheddar grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. I eat well when I get to share the food!
